Relative size

Lestodon was the second sloth in size, right after Megatherium, and could weigh up to four tons. Some specimens, possibly the males, had teeth that looked like large canines and are called caniniform teeth. This species is the most commonly found in Uruguay and it is possible that they competed with Megatherium for resources, since wherever one species is found, the other is not likely to appear. Their name means “Robber tooth”.
